Hi Rob, Can you please put copies of my 2 letters up on your site for other survivors to read, and if in agreement with my aims, to get the Caranua project abandoned , in favor of a fair and proper share out of the existing funds to the remaining qualified Survivors, then perhaps email's/letter s of support from as many Survivors as possible , to both party's , would help us a lot, and show our overall feelings on the entire matter ! Whatever needs to be done, apart from protests etc , needs to be done ASAP, before we all get diddled out of our money, given to us by the Religious, but with Quinn taking control of it, and insulting us all by this illegal outfit Caranua, which any intelligent person can see, is not fit for purpose, it is illegal, and the ultimate further abuse on all Survivors, most now in their elder years. I would love to see every Survivor start some serious protest now against this sick treatment Quinn is master minding ! And hitting us with ! RE: THE STATUTORY FUND/ CARANUA  FRAUD .

 

Dear Earnest,

 

Most Survivors who had their cases heard at the RIRB, were humiliated, badly short changed, received awards that were a pittance and insult to them , and were encouraged by their respective legal teams, Solicitors/Barristers,   to sign gagging orders, (which carried various threats,  including fines, imprisonment or both),  in acceptance, or risk losing out completely on their petty awards .

 

This  was very bad advice at the time, and left a sour taste in the mouths of Survivors of Irelands shame . It also made it impossible for Survivors to ever trust Solicitors again.

 

However, being very impressed with your firms handling of Louise O Keefes recent case at the ECHR, I am writing to you to seek your assistance  by representing Survivors to this same venue,  with our issues regarding Minister Quinn’s Caranua scheme , which for all intent and purposes is illegal, corrupt ,engineered, designed and produced by Quinn in order to inflict further abuse on the remaining Survivors,  and deprive us of what is our Statutory Trust Fund, our rightful money , as contributed to us by the Religious, along with their long awaited apologies and final recognition

Of the serious injury and damage that was handed to us as Children by them ,at the various gulags and institutions of  so called Holy Ireland .

 

There is currently £110 million plus in this fund, with a promise of further money  from the sale of various properties, and lands held by the Religious.

 

The existing Survivors , mostly now in their elderly years, feel that the proper way to deal with this overall issue, is to share out this fund in an equal and fair manner , thus allowing Survivors the opportunity to decide how to spend this money, on their own quality of life, and  their families , and not to be dictated to Quinn , who effectively is high jacking our fund for his ulterior motives and administering it with criteria, rules, nonsense regulations,   terms and conditions , that makes  it virtually impossible for any Survivor to  gain a cent from what is rightfully theirs to begin with .

 

In order for Quinn to carry out this scheme, he had to effectively create a new outfit to replace our STF, and Caranua was produced, using his power and new legislation, taking up much of Survivors time, over 6 years, in which time sadly,  we lost many Survivors. 

 

Those Survivors  we lost ,    their spouses and family   are now denied any sort of  consideration for claiming what should have gone to them, 

 as his bent rules dictate !

 

The entire Caranua is a fraud, certainly not designed to help or assist Survivors, as they claim. It is a total farce , criminal , unjust, and amounts to bare faced robbery of Survivors money .

 

Ernest , I enclose various copies of Survivors posted comments to you for your perusal, I feel that after reading through it all , you will agree and see that we have a valid argument as to the disposal of OUR money, it is with out- doubt an infringement of our human rights, and only the power of the ECHR , with your assistance , would ensure that this entire illegal business  of Quinn’s Caranua, gets a just and fair hearing.

 

In this respect I, along with most Survivors ,  would ask you to please take this all on board, and represent us by taking our case to the ECHR .

 

Showing Quinn up to the world , and exposing his contemptible treatment of Survivors , who are now living all over the world.

To James Moy. Thank you for your letter.  I TRYED TO GET ALL SURVIVORS TO CLUB TOGEATHER MANY MTHS AGO BUT NO ONE WAS IN AGREMENT WITH ME. This Mr Quinn is a disgrace to the DIAL as every thing he told them about all survivors wanting this STATUTORY FUND to be set up  was a lie. He used all those so called GROUPS that claim to represent us to get this bill passed in the Dial. None of those GROPES were elected by any of the Survivors so they had no right to vote on our behalf, makeing this STATUTORY FUND ILLEGAL and it should be scraped, and this Mr Quin should apologize to all SURVIVORS for all the abuse they had to suffer from it. I spent all my childhood in those INDUSTRIAL SCHOOLS from 3years old to 16years old and for what, I never done anything wrong, but I was sent to those SCHOOLS that looked like prisons, but were treated worse than prisoners, we had no rights and no one to turn to to get help. I have always hoped that one day some one would be on our side and get this CARANUA stoped and show this MR QUINN up for what he is a liar. And also get rid of this MARY HIGGINS who is ripping a large amounts of the funds in wages and expences alot more than a vast number of SURVIVORS got, and never suffered any of the abuse, pain or beatings that they had to endure for many years. So where is the fairness in that, This showes that this CARANUA is not for SURVIVORS but for MR QUINS cronies and staff and the longer it goes on the more they will get and the less will be left for theSURVIVORS. So lets put a stop to it as soon as possible and give the SURVIVORS what is theres by right. I an now going on 77 and I had hoper this would be delt with before I pass away.

Hello John, No need to thank me , like your good self I was just trying to drum up interest and assistance from the various Survivors here, and also in securing the services of 3 different Solicitors, which while 2 of them did reply, but for different reasons could not take on our issue's, those two were Cork based Solicitors, and the last Solicitor I contacted was an  Irish Solicitor, based In London, a few months ago, but as yet I have not received a reply. I did send her much paperwork and information about Quinn's Scam, Caranua,  including its booklet and all details about the almost impossible ways Survivors may or may not benefit in any way from it.

All told John, I spent a considerable amount of time and money in my efforts to secure their legal help over the last year, but to no avail.

However, the Irish Solicitor in London, Maeve O Rourke, has yet to reply to me, I am hopeful that is a good sign, and that it might mean She is looking into our complaints .

 Apparently  She has represented Survivors of the Magdalan laundries, and it could be that She is tied up with all that. She was recommended by another Survivor of this group, and as far as I am concerned, is our last hope of getting something done legally about Quinn's further Abuse on us now.

John, you are not alone, ( the remaining Survivors that Qualify for a share of the current fund, according to Quinn's rules and regulations)  the contributions made by the Religious to us, but we are  all in our elderly years now, and it is very apparent that there is very little in his Caranua criteria that would be of any benefit to us now, except the fair share of the total fund, money that we could well use to the benefit of our Family's, and our last day's on this planet.

Since Quinn and Co, have all our details, names addresses etc,  I fail to see or understand why we cant be contacted and advised of our options, and given a clear choice of what we would like ,in order to bring the issues to conclusion for those that don't  want any part of  it,  except their fair share !

I doubt very much that "Caranua" was part and parcel of the Religious idea of redressing the Survivors, and subjecting us to what amounts to further Abuse , for the second time in our lives!

It would be an ideal time now for the Religious to intervene and instruct Quinn to abandon his Caranua Scheme, and address the entire matter in the way they, the Religious,   intended, for once and for all.
