New name for RISF
We have created a new service name for the Residential Institutions
Statutory Fund.
The Board wants survivors to feel that the organisation is
respectful, flexible and warm hearted and dedicated to extending support,
representation and guidance. It feels that
Caranua
communicates this better than the Residential Institutions Statutory Fund
-
and is easier to say.

Inviting applications in January
–make sure we have your details
We will be inviting applications from eligible survivors in January
2014.
In the meantime, we will be publishing the scheme criteria which will provide
information on what services and other assistance can be applied for and
how applications will be assessed.
People will be able to apply electronically or on paper.
They will also be able to nominate someone to make an application on their behalf. We will
have a special freephone number and PO Box for applications.
To be eligible to apply people must have received an award from the Redress Board or a Court.
Relatives of survivors who have receivedawards are not eligible to apply.
We promise the application process will be as simple and friendly as we
can make it and that help with making an application will be available for
anyone who needs it.
If you are on our mailing list we will send you information on the scheme as
soon as we have it. If you received this update you are already on our list.
It will also be on our website
.
If you are not on our list yet, pleasemake sure get on it so that you don’t
miss out on any information. See “Receive Updates”.

We have two new members of staff
who have come from other parts of the Irish civil service. Fiona Coyne is Director of Services and is responsible
for all our survivor services, including managing and deciding applications.
Fiona was previously Director of Participation in the Sports Council.
Conor Morrison is Head of Finance and Administration with responsibility
for the smooth running of our office and all its systems and for financial
management and reporting. He has come to us from the Houses of the
Oireachtas where he held a post with similar responsibilities.
This brings our staff number to four.

Tell us how to improve the website
If you’re a user of our website we’d like to hear what you think about it so
that we can make it better. There is a short questionnaire on the website
about what you would like to see more and less of, so we’d be grateful if
you would take the time to complete it and send back to us. Here’s the link

Please note that we are always open to hearing your views on any aspect
of our work.
