What services are covered?
The legislation allows us to help with education, health and housing
assistance and it sets out what can be covered in each area. It is up to
RISF Board to set more detailed criteria and other issues such as the
application process, how many applications can be made by each
survivor and whether there are limits to the amount of help that one
person can receive.
What health services can be covered?
Care and treatment for mental and physical ill health including:
GP, medical, and surgical treatment
Pharmacy services including drugs and medical or surgical
appliances and aids Home help and other services to help people
remain in their own homes
Treatment for teeth, eyes and ears including hearing aids and other
Chiropody, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy.
Counseling and psychological support services.
What is covered in housing assistance?
Housing assistance covers improvements and adaptation to houses.
Help with rent, mortgage or purchase of properties is not covered.
What’s covered in education?
Education courses and other activities that will help personal, social and
educational development and the improvement of general well being.
