The Shame of Ireland

The Shame of Ireland

As Minister Jan O’Sullivan is new to her job, would it be at all possible that we could band together and ask the Minister to meet with a group of survivors so that we can voice our ISSUES with the Caranua program. As Caranua was developed for the survivors and because most if not all are already entitled to these services offered either by age, medical card or through social circumstance the Caranua program IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. Minister Quinn, did say he would review the program in 2015, the new Minister needs to review it with URGENCY NOW! We need to have an account from the Minister as to what is happening to our SURVIVORS MONEY AND BECASUE ITS OUR MONEY WE NEED TO BE KEPT INFORMAED OF SPENDING. We would like to know from Minister Jan O’Sullivan about the interest on the 110 Million and where it is being banked, also where the rental income from properties given to survivors by the religious is being banked on our behalf , and what is happening to the original 110 Million.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

A beleaguered state agency has claimed a cap it imposed on survivors of childhood abuse has been positively received, despite public criticism.

I believe its time that Survivors held a protest at the New Caranua Offices that we as survivors are paying for out of our fund while some of us are being refused any kind of help or services.

This is a recent post on the Right of Place Website for those interested and  I'd like to know as a Survivor who these people are representing?

"We also advised that it is at this point they should be told about other specialist Services so that Survivors know there was still support there for them even if they have reached their limit with Caranua. There was an understanding to review this and potentially give a leaflet to each Survivor on their case being completed and to review the completion letter with a view to re-wording it."

Over 2 Years Later I Have Had Nothing From Caranua But Grief And Pain.

I tried to go on the right of place and it tells me 403 forbidden, so I cannot get on.

Hi All, just letting you know that lots of survivors are receiving calls from Caranua and their assigned advisers telling them they have a six week cut of date to get their applications even if you hadn't signed up to the new second guidelines.

I was recently refused help from Caranua, for goods etc, my appeal just went in to the appeals officer, I will keep you posted on the process and outcome! Barbie

Hi to All,

Just an update on my Caranua Appeal, I was refused my appeal not that I expected anything else, they say the appeals process is independent but I do not believe them! So it looks like I am on my own fighting the council for help with my housing needs.

After I talk to William of RISN this week, it is my intention to write to the minister about my disgust at the way he and caranua are treating survivors. Back in 2010 I was forced to sign a waver not to prosecute the nun's that abused me, in the past couple of months I was refused my appeal, however, it did leave an opening to go to the high court on a matter of law. So I am going to look into doing just that as I like many others want our day in court. And oust these evil people for what the are and that includes the state. Also, would the Ombudsman Peter Tyndall be willing to listen to us?

Perhaps it would also be an idea to ask where all the VAT they have claimed has gone to. Has this gone back into the funds? I have asked but I still haven't had an answer.
