The Shame of Ireland

The Shame of Ireland

As Minister Jan O’Sullivan is new to her job, would it be at all possible that we could band together and ask the Minister to meet with a group of survivors so that we can voice our ISSUES with the Caranua program. As Caranua was developed for the survivors and because most if not all are already entitled to these services offered either by age, medical card or through social circumstance the Caranua program IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. Minister Quinn, did say he would review the program in 2015, the new Minister needs to review it with URGENCY NOW! We need to have an account from the Minister as to what is happening to our SURVIVORS MONEY AND BECASUE ITS OUR MONEY WE NEED TO BE KEPT INFORMAED OF SPENDING. We would like to know from Minister Jan O’Sullivan about the interest on the 110 Million and where it is being banked, also where the rental income from properties given to survivors by the religious is being banked on our behalf , and what is happening to the original 110 Million.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

hello Corwyn. that is contempt.  usually there is the 3 line standard 'reply'  from their political secretary.

I think a peaceful march should be organised to the dial in Dublin

That has been tried and failed miserably then perhaps as there was no name heading it, it was set up to fail.  Good suggestion this time we should do it via Shame of Ireland what do you think.

I think for now we should try the letter approach and maybe try a protest in the future if nothing comes of it. With all the Irish Water protest going on at the moment I think we would get lost in the mix right now! Barbara

Agreed.  Winter is not the time for a protest.  The Water problem is time consuming.  Then when did Ireland not have a problem.

Kathleen.  alot of survivors are uk based?

I am now waiting over 8 weeks for a refund for money spent eye test and glass's  and all e-mails and call are not responded to NO reply nothing  its bad when they say go and get the services you need and send the receipts  you do all that they say then no refund no word back  someone must put a stop to this they just want us to SUFFER more

it must seem like they only want survivor's details to show that survivors are accessing their 'services'

I've a problem with the letter  - survivors in their twilight years

why are we not just survivors its always the older ones and the younger ones like me then feel left out religious abused then the state abused feel left out like you're more important I think we need to up things I go by caranuas office on the bus I feel like throwing a brick through their window I've also had it with two people in the aislinn centre questioning if I'm a survivor well if people want proof that's fine I've a nice big fat HSE file and people who will verify it

the dpp won't do anything about the ones who abused me the gardai won't arrest my abusers I've had enough nothing is improving

Hi Corwyn.

Sorry didn't mean to offend.  Remember I am on the same page as everyone on this site.  Yes' it would appear I was thinking only of the more mature Survivor,  Caranua will delay deliberately so that the older Survivor may not live to receive what is rightfully theirs. what Institution were you in?  did you not go to the redress Board they will have your details.  I understand how you feel about being quizzed  as to  who you are.  do you achieve anything by going there? other than being upset? or speak to whoever runs the show and tell them how you feel.

Please don't give them the satisfaction of causing criminal damage.  This is one reason why I could never live in Ireland perhaps I would do something.

Hi Kate I didn't mean to offend either it's comforting having you because I could say that and it was ok

I was in the cottage home dun laoghaire it's still running

I went to the redress board but they wouldn't listen to most of the abuse so I'm trying to get a solicitor to tackle it but they are all cowards I don't know what to do about aislinn its the only support apart from here but its of no use I wish I could move country I can't live here its only because of the cat that I'm still going

I'm trying to write a book about what happened in the cottage home
