The Shame of Ireland
hi everyone my mum was sent to good shepherd laundry cork in 1966 where she had my brother she named him joseph (she did not want to give him up but was forced to) was anyone else sent here around that time would br great to hear from someone please just need some answers xx
:) hello and welcome!
Was "forced to" or was he abducted from her?
she was forced to give him up by her family and the nuns don't know the full story as mam's family won't tell me much.
ooohhh, the nuns know more than they will ever reveal, don't let them kid you!
i haven't had any contact with nuns just a social worker who is contacting me on behalf of my brother who was taken from my mum in the laundries and he was adopted out.i dont have a surname for him or any contact details for him i sent letters back to his social worker and she is on leave until next week so now he has to wait again until she passes them on to him,i am now looking into getting some kind of justice for my late mother who suffered at the hands of them monsters.i fully intend to get to know my brother and he feels the same i cant understand why he cannot have my details and me his so frustrating,
:) hello. the other members responses are interesting because many survivors feel they they were abducted and people can know more than they let on (say)! i hope you get answers and joy!
i guess SS has their ways and means. hope it goes really well for you both!
ty so much jack :)
:) you are very welcome! looks like spring has begun!
yeah i can imagine so,i would never trust a word that comes out of their mouths
got some great news today my brother has been called in to get his letters off social worker and she has asked if he can have my phone number :) just waiting for his call now thanks to everyone for kind words and support xxx
