hello Derek!   we are all affected by the church whether roman catholic or protestant. i consider myself to be affected by both the roman catholic and the protestant church. my family background is infact roman catholic. i was born in a convent!  there is a school of thought that says there is in reality not much if any at all difference between the roman catholic and the protestant church. that the pope and the 'queen' are bed fellows!  members of this site have been of a great assistance to me past two years since i joined this site and they are well aware of my otherside experience!  i would agree that so of the attention is on the roman catholic church and not alot on the child abuse that goes on in the protestant church. i experienced 18 years of protestant church child abuse and adulthood suffering effects. to my mind when i think of ireland and what lies behind all the abuse i mostly think england. the crown. the protestants. so you see Derek where i am coming from? (!). by the way similar to the Bethany home Smyly homes is also unionist linked!  Smyly homes were at one time not included in redress.

hello Derek.  i also take an interest in the Magdalene Laundrys and the ladys pursuit of justice. it appears that some victims come last but eventually come in from the cold! doubtless there will be abuse commission set up in england and redress. i am more than happy to discuss protestant church child abuse with you any time Derek and to be of any assistance that i can. as i was saying before members of this site have been of great assistance to me and that is not always easy. not always easy because for example they still hurt from the past. or they have been to redress and met with injustice but they are still willing to help other people who have not got to that stage yet despite their own upset. if i understand correct the reason the present government has not included the Bethany Home in redress is because of the unionist link . the suggestion being a uk problem. Smyly Homes is unionist linked and was eventually included in the redress scheme.

Hi Jack , yes i see that, but what happen with all  of the other groups ?? more Question that answers , the Smyly Home was a defunked Protestant Home which was put on because of what i was doing in 2000 about Protestant homes not being on the list of homes , because that they put on a groups of protestant  homes one of them was the Smylys as they did not want the world to know & if it was not for me they would have got a way with with it  & the head of the DeptHealth said to put the ones on that would not have people to pay out, & they found some big hitter from that side to help them do that , if you can have a look at the RTE Prime Time that on 13 5 20 13 may help you what was going on here , the Government was never going to to put Protestant on any list they did not want even to talk about that & still do not   Derek
