The experience which will always stay with me are the times when I wet the bed.



We got up early each morning and stood by our beds, while someone examined them to see if they were wet. If you had wet the bed, you had to remain behind to take a cruel and belitting punishment. You would have to have had a very cruel mind to make up such a punishment. These people were sadistic, unpredictable, and malicious and disturbed,in my judgement. I remember arriving at St Vincents and seening what looked like to me two enormous dark doors. When I was brought inside and the doors closed the feeling was of total fear of being alone, total abandonment. My first sentence of, 7 years and 10 months. Our only crime was that my Mother had been abondoned by her huaband - my Father.

In 1951 on the 19th of June my Sister and I were both committed to industrail Schools by Judge Roideain at Howth D.C.



My sister to Newtown Forbes, and me to St Vincents Boys School, Drogheda.



My sister was nearly six months old and that was the last time I saw her, until I was 54, in 2003.



I was 2years and two months of age.
