The Shame of Ireland

Email to the irish times this morning

Hi Carl haven read your article on education this morning, re 5 pitfalls for new minister, i wonder if you know that the dept of edu is in charge of caranua, a fund which allot of survivors have issues with, the main one being as survivors we were promised all along that our kids would be looked after, now we were supposed to get a review of the caranua legislation in 2015 with a view to giving our kids access to caranua, this has not happened, also the inherit discrimination in the legislation against survivors who live in private rented housing, as the bulk of the fund is spent on housing this is completely unacceptable to me. Have we again been brushed under the rug, any help you could provide in high lighting our issues would be most welcome,
Best regards Michael

Why do the staff of Caranua deliberately make applying for what is rightfully our so difficult.  We are made to beg, The abuse which took place in our childhoods continues in this organisation.

I have recently been Barred from phoning  for asking to many questions.

Caranua is for Survivors yet we are being  teated like  Aliens.  This organisation appears to be there  for the employees and M. Higgins who is on a very large salary and appears to do very little for it.

There should be a Public inquirie into the running of this outfit.

Dont stand for it,  Kathleen, inform them through the complaints form that you want this barring action in writing, they have to rspond to this, they cannot ignore survivors and you are entitled to question every aspect of the fund, then begin a complaint with http://m.ombudsman.gov.ie/en/ yes the application process is a complete nightmare, i have lambasted them over these sanctions since day one of their inception and will continue to hammer it home, caranua work for us, we pay their wages, lets hope they realise it soon

Also you are completely right MAry Higgins takes a very large salary, i think its high time that this was justified to survivors, i personally would like to know what has caranua acheived for survivors as a group, why the refusal despite the media sound bites to the contary, does she refuse to be flexible in meeting survivors needs, how one black and white template is applied to survivors across the board yet anyone with an ounce of common sense could could see that this is doomed to failure, ergo wasting the fund.

Hi michael.

Thank you for your imput.

She has barred me from phoning.  As that is the best way to communicate she has denied me this right.  I have spoken to a member of the Media and now wait to hear this is why I asked evereyone to contact the Irish Examiner to give their side.

I also understand M Higgins is the Ombudsman so we need to find another form of exposure. I will give it a bash anyway and see what happens. From Jan O'Sullivans reply to me in 2014 she has no imput in Caranua hence that woman appears to be in total charge just like a little Hitler.

Hi i thought Peter Tyndall was the head ombusman, i cant see where mary higgins is connected and would be shocked if this was the case, jan pass the buck o sulivan doesnt surprise me, but think about it why are all dial questions relating to caranua put to minister of education, thats the culture in ireland when it comes to most things, however know your rights and keep at them, i had email back from Brutons office this morning promising to look into these matters, i will keep at him every week so he knows i aint goin away, same with caranua, i would rather an email myself as you have a written record of all contact. Dont lose heart, i know how stressful dealing with them is, Michael

Ps if you can show me any connection between higgins and office of ombusman please do and i will be on to them this minute, Would be shocked if such a vested interest was there, cheers Kathleen.
