Facing the future together - Ireland’s lifelong responsibility to survivors of institutional abuse

May 2019 marks the 20th Anniversary of the state apology to survivors of institutional abuse and the 10th Anniversary of the publication of the Report of the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse (the Ryan Report). This conference ‘Facing the future together - Discussing Ireland’s lifelong responsibility to the survivors of institutional abuse’ will explore the progress made since these events and more importantly discuss the supports that survivors continue to need in the long term.

Registration will commence at 9.30am, with the conference commencing at 10am.

All of these events only concern those in Ireland .the rest of us to these groups are Simply names and addresses on thier lists of those helped. .Its very insulting and abusive.When i learnt of events thay were over.and it was by newspapers or this site.After 20 years of this cruelty i dont believe that there will be any change.

Hi All, why are caranua even interested in this future together they have done nothing to help us in the present. I had an email from them yesterday stating they are winding down and an last date for receiving invoices for what ever they want to give you if anything is 24th May. There is no future for survivors as the government want rid of us, my advice is to contact the future together email address and make your complaint if you can't attend or you live in another Country. And tell them the kind of future you want as a survivor!!!!! If anyone is going let me know and if I am able to attend I will definitely be there.

Just pain killers Jack, believe it or not I was 5ft 8 and a half inches I am now 5ft 6 inches otherwise I am in excellent shape at 163 lbs. down from 210 lbs. I got out of Glin in 1951 and left Limerick to England where I started an apprenticeship, at 21 was accepted into the SAS to fight in the jungle in Malaya for 2 years, came back and immigrated to Canada up near Alaska now I have travelled the world with the Special Forces I could not get far enough away from Glin so it was better to write it down and so I have done so, c
