The Shame of Ireland

The Shame of Ireland

For all of those so beaten in the Schools of Abuse...

Sir,

Did you have to use that ruler
So viciously back then when
we were all little children
In your care -
Did you have to use the side of that ruler
As you held our bony wrists as
You Thrashed down with force
Across the tops of our fingers
Until sometimes they bled -
Blisters and burning fingers
Little girls and boys dare not cry -
You towered over us little mites back then -
There are stories of other
Monstrous deeds you did
Back then when little children
Were in your care
Stories of how you beat some of the lads
One whose father was dead
His punishment for no crime was not
Only the beatings but also to banish
Him from the classroom
The school gardens to tend
A man's work whilst he a child
Was in your care
It's true you had your favourites
Who never felt the ruler
On their little fingers
Or the cane across their bare legs
Was their suffering worse?
Your favourites were brought up
Behind your desk
Where you smiled down at them
One by one they took their place
Upon your knee
Little children on your knee
The little children with the burning fingers
Witnessed not a smile upon your face
But raging eyes and frothing at your mouth
As you thrashed the side of that ruler
Down across their little fingers
That burned into the night
Little children in your care
"Suffer little children to come
Unto me" said the Lord
God Forgive you as you face His wrath!

So sorry for you Frank - they were all abusers and had no right to hide behind the Cloth of God - I hope you are recovering a little now - do not let them beat you down still - you have survived to shame them and show them up for what they are...Take care of yourself.  Teri

Frank - I saw your comment re CaraNua that you have difficulty ringing them - it says on their site that email contact is also acceptable - info@caranua.ie - would you try that - set out all your expenses and needs - see if you can access the application form and then do all that and keep emailing them - I know you probably have to post receipts etc - from what I have read of Caranua it does seem to exhaust people out - they are supposed to help people so ask them to do that for you - Good Luck!
