The Shame of Ireland

The Shame of Ireland

It would appear that Paddy Doyle has removed his well respected an well loved website "The God Squad"

This is the Link to the God Squad

I hope this is a temporary hitch? as there is so much there that means so much to many Survivors!

Either way I wish him well in his future endeavours.

He has caused extreme havoc in my life and that of the other women who have contacted me to share their experiences. It is very sad as I contacted him to tell him his book was the first book I ever purchased and I admired him greatly. He said awful things to me about his wife in order to gain my trust and sympathy, things I will not repeat here. He desperately needs psychological help in my opinion but try telling him that!!
Thank you for your kind words.

This is a shock. As paddy is happely married. What were all these relationships based on. Like others i have never met Paddy. But his site was helpfull to me as otherwise living overseas i dident get much information. he seems like an honest man. But of course we all have trusted people. I hope you are okey. I am surprised as Paddy has differcultys caused by his illnesses.he was good to us in his way.

I don't mean to be rude but what exactly do you know about his marriage. The relationships I now realise we're based on nothing more than lies. He led me to believe he is in a violent, abusive r'ship and he was very lonely. I became his best friend and quickly he turned our friendship into a sexual r'ship. Let me assure you he has no physical problems on that side of things.

There is nothing rude about your question. I dont know Paddy in the flesh. But i have seen several vidioson his site. THe vidios aboutdestonia are very interesting. These illnesses are not known about. Seeing what it like for him to move about And such were a real eye opener. As for his marriage he talks of his life with his family and seemed to care a great deal about them. His meeting his sister and all. All survivers are lonely. Its sad when friendship goes sour.I dont know what Paddy is expected to do about the staturary fund.!!! It was accepted by groups.

Given the very damaging Childhoods most Survivors encountered, I would say that it is a fair bet that most of us are psychologically affected in some way, living constantly throughout life with the effects of PTSD, and various other knock on problems, mental ,  physical, handicapped educationally, loneliness, loss of family, etc., etc.!

Claire, as I previously mentioned, I am sorry that your experience was not pleasant, but I believe that Paulines views and mine were based on the knowledge we gained through his site over a number of years, not on his personnel life, which we obviously knew nothing about.

I don't feel qualified to sit in judgement of Paddy or anyone else here, we are Survivors, trying to be there for each other, communicate and share our views and problems , and deal as best we can with the out standing issues we face daily. The Irish Government  and the STF .

I accept that you have an axe to grind regarding your experience with Paddy, but I feel it is an issue between you and him, and has no merit being aired on this site.

Hope you find some happiness and peace  out of all your experience Claire, speaking for myself, and possibly others, my happiness will be complete ,when the Irish Government give back to the Survivors their rightful share of the vast amount of money they high jacked from us.

Kind Regards

On the contrary Jimmy I feel that wherever vulnerable women are, be it here or elsewhere, they need to be made aware of his behaviour. I spoke about him on twitter and seven women in total contacted me to share their experience. Some of us are now in contact with a RTE journalist who also believes this needs to be exposed.
Maybe there are women on this site who have been exploited by him also, and feel embarrassed or ashamed to tell anyone. My message is not about having an axe to grind, it's to make women aware of this 'situation' and trying to protect more women/survivors from exploitation.
Yours sincerely

Claire, I think your Comment "Oh Dear oh dear ..." appears patronising?

I certainly wouldn't have been happy if it appeared after one of my posts?

It would certainly appear that Paddy's conduct falls far short of what we would expect of him.

I for one am appalled that someone who has such a high profile with so many causes where there are vulnerable people could behave in such a way!

I understand your motivation for posting here i.e. to warn vulnerable people; but feel iI need to remind you of the Terms of Service which can be read <HERE>

I amnot saying that you have breached them, I am Just asking that you be mindful of them as everyone who posts on this site are bound by them.

As the site is unmoderated, we are all liable for our own postings!

Thank you for sharing your experience, I am sure that it wasn't easy.

You are right and I'm sorry. I was disappointed with the lady's comment and didn't know how best to respond so I went with my initial thought. I will delete it immediately.

@Pauline. I apologise for my curt remark yesterday. Paddy had spoken to me on several occasions about his family and I'm sorry to say it was not in a positive manner. What he says on tv is not something I can comment on.
I'm sorry if my comment caused you distress Pauline.
Yours sincerely

Hi Claire, Certainly I would agree with your wish to protect other women , but it disturbs me that whatever has happened in your experience or others ,should be exposed on this site, basically it is an allegation by a Survivor, on a Survivor, and in relaying it to an RTE Journalist  seems a fair way to deal with it ,and have it looked into, but I don't feel it serves any useful purpose in inflicting it all on the Survivors here, they all have enough on their plates already ! Besides ,to hear these allegations and comments, leaves a sour taste in my mouth, as I had held Paddy in high esteem, based strictly on what knowledge I had about him.

If Paddy has done wrong , I am sure he will be exposed, and get his  just desserts . Your experiences were certainly not nice, or that of the other ladies, and I am amazed that grown women , (adults now,) could be duped , so easily , as you say.

The reason for the shame of Ireland site is for Survivors to communicate ,share and comment, on the issues that we all relate to, but I don't accept that it should include airing dirty washing, whether correct or not, and the last thing I would like to see is any sort of witch hunt conducted on here. Your approach to the media was the correct route, in dealing with that issue.

This is just my opinion Claire, the entire matter concerning Paddy has upset me, and  im sure ,many others,   this is a side I was never aware of, to hold someone in respect , then to hear these allegations, sure knocks me for six .

I hope you get the matter resolved, and addressed, to your satisfaction.
