The Shame of Ireland
Remove Mary Higgins from caranua.
Employ survivors to help survivors.
Burn the current guidelines, put a video of this on website and replace with a simple phone call like this, what can caranua do for you today that would make a real difference in your life. See its real easy to help people if thats your true intention.
Apologise to all survivors for the abuse and discrimination carried out by caranua todate.
Refuse to take your wages from the fund and return to the fund any monies taken from it for wages, there is no reason why survivors should be supporting your lifestyles.
If any 0ne else has any thoughts on this would love to hear them, be they good bad or just plain off the wall :-).
Michael
They should have a social media presence
Caranua, needs to be there for the survivors the fund was set up to help in the first place - the Department of Education that has the remit for Caranua should be responsible for all wages to staff at Caranua. The fund should be invested that only monies from the interest be used and the main fund should remain intact. All funds spent to date need to be accounted for and that all suppliers of services are that and not a fraud. All applicants to date are true survivors and not made up to defraud the fund. All land buildings given to the state on our behalf be sold off and all monies be added to the fund.
Well said Barbara, this is something that needs to happen asap. Michael
Michael.
I agree totally with your recomendation this I have advocated from the start. However we don't qualify in the scheme of things. "JOBS FOR THE BOYS"
I struggle to receive yet Labouring People who give quotes for work receive payment in full and can scarper once theu receive the cheque. We the Survivor are known to the Irish Government are not Trusted to manage our business or the interaction with the said Labouring Force.
It would appear M.Higgins is answerable to NO ONE How can that be right?. Caranua is run like the Nazi Regime, and we all know how that turned out.
Kathleen O'Malley. "Childhood Interrupted".
It is an abuse of our human rights to have such negitive preconceptions about survivors and their familes, the whole guidelines are based on these preconceptions, we can only hope that the ihrec has the balls to bring them to task. Michael
Just received letter in the post this morning 02/06/16 from Mary Higgins Caranua, thanking me for my recent application for assistance, informing me that all of my needs have been met according to them, and informing me that not to apply for anymore assistance as it would be impossible for them to consider my application.
As I have received funding in the past that it would not be fair to any future people that may apply, to consider my recent application. MARY HIGGINS CEO. PS May she have a very warm after life.
Wow im stunned to hear that, after 2 and a half years i would imagine most have applied, i suppose the longer she can keep her job going the more of survivors money she can bank. Martin we just have to keep fighting . Michael
Ditto on the very warm after life:-)
IMO -
Too much money goes on wages, why don't CEO's etc volunteer?
Why don't they employ 'survivors'? they do with drug and alcohol rehab, but not in this area.
Why is this continuing abuse allowed to continue - especially the mental abuse (cause they can't physically or sexually abuse us anymore do they do this to keep their power over us? or the power over themselves?).
THIS is world wide...why? why no integrity with our TAXES? ( BTW I am an Aussie).
Why do these orgs/churches et al, allow their insurance companies to treat us so badly. Again, where is the integrity of getting my tax dollars to use to mentally abuse me!???
Many over here are sick and tired of these orgs set up to help us who don't...we have one that has an ex care leaver as CEO and from personal experience she is as bad as the care givers of long ago...she started Clan with someone else I believe. YET they all have me on their books and get funded to help me...
Excellent point Jan, the best counselors in rehab have been through that nightmare themselves who would happily give their time for free to help someone. They could even take reduced wages as a show of solidarity with survivors, like cmon 100k in wages a year is a joke, its strange how the system in your country is a near mirror image of over here. A lot of survivors would be perfectly capable of doing an advisors job and they would fight tooth and nail for us rather than the attitude of tokenism that is the current system, i remember quite early on caranua where "surprised" that the spend was over 2000 euro per applicant so that really shows the driving ideas behind the management of the fund.
