The Shame of Ireland

The Shame of Ireland

I remember arriving at St Vincents and seening what looked like to me two enormous dark doors. When I was brought inside and the doors closed the feeling was of total fear of being alone, total abandonment. My first sentence of, 7 years and 10 months. Our only crime was that my Mother had been abondoned by her huaband - my Father.

There must have been one or two good nuns at this place, but it is the the evil and the cruelty that went on that I will always remember. During me time in this hellhole I was subjected to beatings, humilation beyond belief and cruelelty. I was hit merely for talking. At this age punishment was admininstered with a cane.
