im totally disgusted with caranua, who the hell do they think they are , someone has to stand up to them and shame them, I guess they are waiting for people to die before they do something and that could take years. its just not fair. the world needs to know whats happening. did we not suffer enough in those awful laundries.i still have nightmares up to this day and will never forget. SOMETHINGS GOT TO BE DONE,go on television, talk to newspaper editors, just do something. LORETTA MILLER.

Hi Loretta, its a complete scandal, the huge wages they take, the lies they tell the media, they didnt even give me a reason think i might post the refusal email here later, i was upset yesterday but today the fire is back in my belly i have a number of legal meetings next week so hopefully we can get someone to shine a very big light on caranua and expose whats going on, thanks tor the comment, Michael

I have been refused dental treatment too. Only got 6 teeth left intact now but they don't care.

I hope you continue with your fight x

I've long since given up on the whole Irish system. At coming up to 85 I find it all too stressful. Life is difficult enough after going through stomach surgery (stomach totally removed) for cancer. If nothing else, my entire childhood from two to sixteen spent in Industrial Schools made me a fighter, otherwise I would not have been considered for surgery. There are so many questions about my short time in Ireland I'd love to know the answers to, but I guess I'll never know. So many lies on my official records. Here's just one: my record on entry to St. Patricks in Kilkenny states: I'm 'illegitimate' when my birth certificate shows my parents names, professions and my hospital of birth. In addition I have a copy of my parents marriage certificate. The whole system is built on lies and they are not very good liars.

@ Elizabeth how can they justify treatment like that, how can a lay person make a medical decision on your behalf going against the advice of your dentist,  there by affecting your health in a negitive manner

@Patrick just shocking to hear your story, when i hear from someone like you it makes me fight them 10 times harder, what happened to our human rights, like all other groups have their rights fully protected,

Micheal, As I write my story I make my way through a jigsaw that turns out to be a maze of lies. But as the pieces slot together a shocking story emerges. The religious orders in defence of their actions they stated: "The Father deserted the family and refused to support them." Though the true facts are still available they chose to ignore them. His wife (my Mother) was the main witness against my Father in court at my case. He was later arrested and charged. All charged were dropped when his wife under cross-examination admitted that she had lied. No action was taken against her and he spent years fighting a losing battle to gain custody of me.

As with many of Irish problems religion was at the root of the problem: one Catholic and one Protestant. The Father refused to allow his children have religious instruction. As one reads my story it's plain to see how and why they considered that it was in my best interest that all family contact was severed. Up to the age of sixteen I was known as Charlie as a result I was lost in the system. Even after my release lies continued to be entered in my records.

Lately I've been contacted by a young woman to tell me I'm her uncle, 'the mysterious member of the family. There's a brother I never met and of course there ae many nieces and nephews on my Father's side. I know nothing of my Mother's side of the family. She was a Doyle.

Strange to think by the time I left Ireland both Father and Mother and a sister were till alive and none of my new family knew or met them. The story of what should have been my family is unbelievable, but then also is my own story in what I've achieved in sport, work and family life.

Hi Patrick,  thanks for sharing that, i get blown away by what the generations before me had to go through, no amount of money will ever make up for these crimes commited against you, you seem to hint that you have acheived plenty of good things in your life thank god for something, they should be on there hands and knees offering anything you need, yet thay cant shake loose of it and continue to abuse our human rights, discriminate against us when will the media wake up, your story, our stories must never be forgotten
