The Shame of Ireland

Reply I got from Mary, but she forgot to say your only allowed to spend €2000 on household goods,

Dear Mr Power

Thank you for your feedback, which you know is always welcome.

To answer your questions:

Under the new arrangements we offer household goods, not just white goods
We aim to address the needs of each individual so it is always going to be the case that people may be treated differently, but within the general rules of the scheme. I take your point that some people have received high value assistance from Caranua and that this will not be the case in the future. This decision was made in order to make sure that everyone who can apply will be able to receive assistance. It wasn’t possible for us to predict the number of applications or the level of demand when we started. Once we realised that those arrangements were not sustainable we changed them
I take your point about the survivors who are struggling and we are doing our best to reach out to where those individuals might be by working with community based services and services like prison, homeless and mental health services
We are not able to just divide the Fund by the number of eligible applicants but must have an application process. This is required by law.

I hope this make sense to you. I would like to point out that if you have not reached €15000, then it is open to you to make an application under the new arrangements and I would encourage you to make contact with your Advisor to discuss this.

Best wishes

That is wonderful all the survivors banding together to fight for justice and fairness for all, Mary Higgins and co underestimated survivors resolve to fight as we had to do it all our lives, she and her cronies have come up against an infantry of survivors  who will keep advancing our rights as long as we have breath in us
