The Shame of Ireland

The Shame of Ireland

As those of you who have been here from the beginning; the Website was a gift from Jackie and her Mum to the Survivors.

It was paid for 1 year and I was offered the Administration of it which I have done to the best of my ability.

That year ends on the 20th July 2011.

I am in the process of taking ownership of the website. (which is proving to be difficult)

The Question is does it continue?

The cost for another year is $239.90 (£149.94) or $24.95 (£15.59) per month.

This is not a great deal of Money, but my wife and myself are living on state benefits.

Membership involvement appears quite low?

Many Members are active in the cause but do not use the site to enlist the support of other, or inform others of events etc.

I look forward to you thought on this?

Regards Rob

As I have said above I am having difficulty in taking ownership of the site; so this may end up outside my control?

In the meantime you can backup any information you want to keep!

I would like to say a big "THANK YOU!" to Jackie and her Mum for the support of the Site over the last year!

Hi Rob, Sadly I am also on a small pension much smaller than most in the UK receive, sorry not being able to help and thanks to Jackie and her mother for their contribution to us all. It seems like the fund is being pushed through and as this site is keeping survivors in contact and helps in our healing with discussions, that fund should contribute to keeping the site running for our benifit, I would ask Quinn for a grant. Jimmys letter was excellent and only time will tell if minister Quinn will respond.

Good luck Rob and thanks for all your work.

As I have said at the moment "the main problem is one of taking ownership".

I could put up a donate button and let Members contribute towards the cost of the site as they feel appropriate?

With a greater Membership and a few more activist on-board I would gladly make up any shortfall myself.

I understand the site is quite widely read by members!

I have aded

The site is such a great tool but underused??

Seems to me  they are still refusing to listen to survivours.

Jimmy has not come back so he doesn't have access to the Site, he is in touch via email and asked me to post the letter on his behalf.

It was also him who alerted me to the fact that Munster Survivors are using the Data Base from Right of Place!!!!

The good news is that the ownership of the Shame of Ireland has been transferred to me.

This is the wrong time for the Site to come to an end as the fight to influence T.D.s to vote against the Bill being passed is Just about to start!!

Re: Shame Of Ireland May Close

i see there are 5 days to go before the 20th of July when site fee is up for renewal. i guess if members value the site (enough) members will find a way to keep it safe and alive and active and thriving!   it could be argued that members who pay for a site are more likely to be active! it would be a shame to exclude members who can not afford to make regular contributions to site upkeep.

Since taking over ownership of the site I have been able to analyse the Traffic to the site?

It is very encouraging to see! I hope you will agree??

On the Question of Administration there is very little to do other that Approve new Members, and bring new postings to the attention of the Membership.
