The Shame of Ireland
The Wisdom of Father Magee (Please share with all you can.)
“Now what shall we do with these bastards”,
Said the Bishop to Father Magee,
“They’ll take all of our wealth and they’ll ruin us,
And cast shame on the Great Holy See”.
“Wouldn't mind if their mothers had married,
And not been so brazen with priests.
Causing many good innocent Fathers,
To act, once or twice, just like beasts”.
The old priest looked up to the Bishop,
His wisdom as great as his years,
“I’ve got something in mind that might calm you,
And belay, for some time, all your fears”.
“We could offer them Love and some comfort,
And accept them again, to the fold.
With forgiveness the same as the Fathers,
And a dowry, thought late, to behold.”
“Get this gobshite from here Father Sweeny”,
Screamed the Bishop, with froth on his mouth.
“And get me some TD’s and Lawers
I’ll soon sort this feckin’ thing out”.
