Happy New Year Johnny,

I was in Glin in the 40s and early 60.If you were there about that time you would have heard me sing for the choir. Bro. Murphy was the choir master and cullen on the organ, he called me the thrush, I sang solo at High Mass in Glin at Christmas, Jim Kavanagh, Tommy Loughrey, Paddy and Michael Scales, Mick & Tom Reddan, Tim Gleeson and his two brothers were some of the boys with me, those of us still alive are still in contact a bond that is unbreakable. I was a thief, a moocher, a child worker, broken home,a home that we were evicted from and the christian brothers kicked me out of Gerald Griffen school at age 11,we were squatters in an abandoned old butcher shop in Robert St. sleeping on straw on the floor and only coming out at night, a blanket at the shop window kept the light from the candle from being seen from the street by the mostly drunken gypseys who had their caravans near the market where I worked for farmers. I am writing a book very slowly and have named it Damaged Goods, it starts in 1935. I am a couple of hours away from San Diego for the winter each year, down from Canada. I am at Wellton in the Imperial Valley 30 miles East of Yuma with the first lady in my life after getting out of Glin at age 16. It's bloody cold here now, never know it so cold since getting out of Glin. Hope to hear from you.

Good morning John,

I have believing the unbelieving book by Ben Franklin but cannot recall him from the 40s at the college, St. Josephs, Christina sent a letter and I also have her account of Glin. I have been back and stood and looked at the ruins of the place a few years ago and the memories flooded back, sadly a lot of the boys have crossed over and I felt alone stood there. I have kept a letter from Bro. Murphy the choir brother which he sent to me in 1952 when I was in England, I had written to the school asking for my birth certificate and also if I was a Roman Catholic, he said I was, that the new world I was in would challenge me away from Ireland, its a long letter, they told me to write to the parish of St. Marys where I was baptised for the birth Cert. That was the last I heard from them, I was 18 at that time. Tom Hayes is a friend of Jim Kavanagh my buddy in England, as I am a person who is open to any inquiriy I asked him to tell me how many members as well as other straight questions he was representing, he was not forthcomming and that was the last I heard from him, he just said goodbye in his last e-mail. I am against all the Groups who are picking our pockets at present. Do you view Paddy Doyles site ? it tells the whole story of how we all feel regarding groups. It's great hearing from you and I would love to have a look at your book when you feel it is ready. In case I don't catch you in my number here in Wellton is 928 785 5106. By the way, Bro. Murphy said in the letter that the boys had radios in the dorms after I left and other things which were alian to me, we had nothing up to the early 50s so I guess he also was bragging about that, we heard the BBC news in the "eating room", I won't confuse it with dining room, as Bro. Cullen would listen to it every morning as we ate our sugerless porridge followed by a mug of warm milk right out of the newly milked cows.

All the very best John, keep in touch.

Seanie.

Good morning John,

It is only now that I have opened your homepage to read and see the great photo's that you posted, how did you do that ? I dont have a clue on doing that. We have just about finished the float for the parade here in Wellton, Im having a little more time now. I am still waiting for word on the grandkids educational fund that is available,it's been months and the paperwork is ridiculas and that is why I and all the others are against further shovelling our compensation into the Trust Fund. Michael Scales was with me in Glin in the 40s and I have a photo of him with John Stoke, will send a copy to Margaret Thornton when I get back to Canada in April. Im golfing with a friend from Yorkshire today again, every Sunday. I will give you a ring when I get back.

All the best.

Seanie

Hey John,

sorry about the delay in replying, but I had moved to a new address in Dec. and I just got the Internet connected Feb 12. Plus I heve been back in Dub. with the Redress Bd. Jan. 19. what a system!! And those dirty f.n so called "Legal Representers"..... I am going to try to get a civil "class action type" lawsuit started against them when I get back over there; which I expect to be fairly soon, as I looked at several property sites in W.Meath, Meath, Kildare and Wicklow while I was there and I expect to choose one for a memorial site that I'm doing that includes the Institution kids and OUR SISTERS... THE MAGGIES....... I had tried to get the Church and/or the State to fund one (via www.icvmbf.org) but their pockets are tighter than a Ducks ass... So I'm hitting my own pocket...in that way I'm hopeful it will get done in the next couple of months..... or at least before I kick the bucket myself!! Paddy.

p.s. My info is on the above icv site; and a scribbling I had done is on www.scdtspotlight.com (not selling anything....Just a Bit o Craic)
