Department of Health visit Ferryhouse Industrial School, Clonmel to investigate the death of a child from meningitis - apparently. They described conditions as “a social malaise” and recommended the closure of the school. Irish Television (RTE) actually visited Ferryhouse a few months before this boy's death - and it's obvious from the film stills that the boys are, at the least, badly under-nourished, definitely ill-clad and living miserably.

Yet RTE shot it's film without comment or without reporting the obvious neglect of the children.
