The Shame of Ireland

The conditions in nineteenth century Irish workhouses may not have differed much to the one that Oliver Twist was billeted in. In Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin, two buildings previously in use as orphanages have different existences, and futures, today. Recent incarnations for ‘Mrs Smyly’s Home’ on York Road — the ‘Bird’s Nest’ as it is colloquially known — one of the town’s first orphanages and home at one stage to Irish soccer legend Paul McGrath, have included office and living space.

Ah yes, this was home for me and I am sure that I was the subject of some of the trials and have the marks on my arms to prove it over 50 years later. Happy days, hell no!

The Bird's Nest Has Already Been Publicly Identified As A Place Where At Least One Vaccine Trial Took Place!

Forgive me, I live in Cambridgeshire in the UK and have not kept up to date. I have three rings on my right arm that nobody has ever explained to me. This is the first time I have heard about the Bird's Nest being caught up in something like this but when you think about the money it would have cost to keep us there, making the connection between the costs of keeping us on one hand and the money made from drug trials on the other, is easy to make. I do remember a group of us being very sick for a few days and not being allowed to associate with other residents for a while. I do not like the memories that h ave haunted me these last few days.

Hello Kevin. I Also Have Three Rings On My Arm.  The State Admits To One Trial On The Children In The Bird's Nest. Perhaps  It Will Come Clean About More Than One Trial Yet! These Trials Done On The Children In The Bird's Nest Were Done By Scientists From UCD!  We All Came Down With What They Injected Us With!  They Assaulted The Children. They Caused Harm To The Children. The State Has Buried It's Head In The Sand For Now But Tide Doth Come In  ...
