Role and functions

The Board is responsible for ensuring that Caranua (RISF) is successful in improving the quality of life of former residents and implementing other functions as set out in the legislation.

While the Board sets the scope of the assistance to be provided including criteria, the executive will be responsible for assessing and making decisions on applications.

All draft legislation is examined by the Office of the Attorney General to ensure that it is, inter alia, compliant with the human rights provisions of the Constitution and international human rights obligations. 22. • Wonder did they run the legislation by European International Human rights which they signed up to?

Im a survivor and i can tell you caranua has been completely unsuccessful in improving the quality of my life, it will be interesting to see these new changes caranua are bringing in, will it be a case of further bad treatment of survivors or has the penny dropped after nearly half of the fund has been spent lining the pockets of every one but survivors

I am a survivor also, caranua did very little for me,sick of there crap so from now on any when i contact caranua i will also send a copy to the minister ad i get the usual response ,i will be complaining to Europe, that should put a thorn in their flesh of Edna Kenny and Mary Higgins

Fair play Marylou, anything worth doing is never easy but do it we will.

Comment by Marylou on May 25, 2016 at 19:18

Enough complaints to Europe  will expose the injustice and lack of fairness in the legislation

Competely agree Marylou, we have a right to be treated as any other person is treated,

we could put it all into one and create a petition. if we all send seperate complaints it won't be as powerful as everybody getting together.

The fact that survivors and their families affected by this are getting together could be enough to make somebody sit up and take notice?

Caranua I contacted them three weeks ago I was informed they would contact me in a couple of days haha I have being waiting for them to contact me for one and a half years surely if this service is to make life better for survivors they should at least contact you after they getting well payed for providing this service
Comment by micheal on May 27, 2016 at 16:41

Im up for that and i know at least 5 survivors who would put there name to it, great idea when do you want to start, Michael

Comment by Elizabeth Dormer on May 27, 2016 at 16:47

I don't know how to set it up but if anybody there does know how to do it, we could get it started straight away and get it to the right people when we have enough comments.

I was thinking of us making our own personal comments on it about Caranua in just a few words and then end everybody's with....    This is in breach of our human rights.

What do you think?  the sooner the better?
