The Shame of Ireland
Hello fellow prisoners, The latest numbers I see regarding payouts to survivors in the UK are; 6,234.215 to 569 survivors I don't know if that is pounds or euro's as I do not trust my own math, how much does each survivor receive, I get 109,564 that must be wrong as my education stopped at age 14 to be put to work in Glin.
Works out to nearly 11000 sterling per uk survivor,
Although this figure is vastly skewed in favour of people who own there own home or have a council house as the bulk of the fund is spent on housing, it is only very recently that they have changed the guidelines to allow people in private rented digs to apply for housing help.
I guess I was correct but decimal point wrong, should be 10,956.4 sterling, bloody calculaters. That is if each indivdual received equal amounts. I have my begging bowl in storage, just waiting to hear if I may have permission to have my teeth cleaned and allow me to have hearing aids, I guess it takes a lot of time to say Yes or No to that inquiry by me. Oh well.
I think caranua should provide us all with a begging bowl Seanie, a nice standard issue one for everyone seems to be the sum total of what they can acheive. :-)
Michael I am in council house and trust me when I say I could not get any funds for housing needs.
I did ask council if I could put up fencing on one side of the garden, Council agreed as long as I paid for it.
I told Caranua what council said and they paid up. Now I hear through the grape vine Caranua no longer fund fencing. Caranua keep changing the goal post.
Yes a lot of survivors in private housing did indeed get their housing needs met by Caranua as long as it fitted in the criteria Who cam blame them as it stated in Caranua's hand book, "There is no Limit" now they are stating there is a limit that each person receives. Not only that Caranua are making it more difficult to make a claim. At one time all you needed was one quote, now you need three.
I have come to the decision the more difficult Caranua the more they hope you give up
Hi Bernadette it shocking the penny pinching when it comes to survivors, its hard to tally the so called testimonials on their website with the way a lot of us are being treated, so much for making you feel safe and secure in your home, i dont see any penny pinching when it comes to their wages, totally agree with you the goal posts keep changing probably to keep the wages gravy train rolling, Michael
Hi Michael you are so right penny pinching is too mild a word and I think the reason behind it is to ensure they can pay themselves big fat salaries out of our money. Isn't it about time they accounted to us as to why they can justify paying themselves fat cat salaries
Hi Helen it sure seems like that is the case, it is our fund, if it was another service we were paying for they would be fired already, there should of been no guidelines in the first place, instead a simple question what could caranua do for you today that would really help you out, guess they dont teach common sense in college :-)
Or they should change their name from Caranua to Gestapo
