The Shame of Ireland

The Shame of Ireland

When my friend died

everything altered

Memories faded slowly

leaving this trace

of sadness

in the twilight

where memories

flicker, waver,

and are restless

silencing thoughts.

Words unspoken, then mumbled.

And this day too

will die alone,

grieving for

the broken promise.
